News

Here is the latest piece of news to come across the BBC concerning Brazil. I actually was listening to a certain radio program this morning from a suspect source (NPR) and caught a piece of a report about this very thing. I was interested to find it today on a news website.

Catholics are concerned about their hold over the masses in Brazil as they see other groups "raiding" their people and steeling their hearts. Still, Brazil boasts the largest Catholic population in the world. This story, from the BBC, represents what is happening all over Brazil. While we must recognize that though many are leaving the Catholic Church, they are not by any stretch of the imagination flocking to the Bible much less true and honest Christianity based on faith in Christ alone. If you are interested in the Catholic Church, world religions or Brasilian life in general, check out the link above.

Brazil continues to be a country that is spiritually wide open. Perhaps it is not the most needy place in the world but South America and Brazil continue to be the most open place in the world, and not only to the truth. It is our responsibility to help turn them from darkness to light. As Paul put it, "'For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.' How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe on Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!'" (Romans 10)
