The snow is falling outside, a nice black cup of french roast beside me, and it is time to post some fun things.
We are spending a Saturday at home today . . . crazy things happen on such occasions and we are having some fun. It has been over a month since we were home on a Saturday. We thought that we would share some of that fun with the rest of you form of photos and a short video. (Grandma J. has requested many times more detailed descriptions of the photos we post. I'm sure that will be helpful to everyone else as well, so we will work on that and try to do a little better this time.)
We spent the last week in EMT-Basic world (Jon had two big tests that he mostly did well on), in baby land (a birthing class last Friday and Saturday and pre-natal appointment on Monday) and in deer land (three long and fun days at a deer processing shop). The photos in today's post tell the story. The first one is a belly shot to show the weight we have both gained during this pregnancy :).
The second photo is of the "Dahli Mamma". OK so Jon put her up to posing for that picture . . . and I think that I would rather call her the "Dolly Mamma" but that is probably more information that you wanted to know.
The rest of these pictures, though somewhat gruesome, are from "Kunnari Country Meats" in Eveleth, MN. The first one is of Jon chopping away at a front leg (I think I can do it in my sleep). # 2 is of the pile of deer (0nly about half of them that were there on the first couple of days). We were able to do about 40 a day. #3 is of Denielle's Sister Denise and Aunt Mariann Kunnari. Mom O. is in the background. (I think they are "high" on deer fumes. # 4 is of brother Luk and cousin Derek who have the nasty job of skinning the deer. #5 is the pretty face of a small buck, waiting to be claimed by the proud hunter. And # 6 is the line of deer outside that are patiently waiting their turn on the block.
The video is of the skinning shop, you may not be able to watch it if you are on a dial up connection or if your stomach is a little week. The boys are hoisting it up and getting ready to take the skin off. Starring Luke Ortler as Luke, Derek Kunnari as Derek and Jack Kunnari as Jack the Dripper. It is best to let it all load and then try to watch it.
