The excitement level flowing through the Johnson's veins this week took as serious a spike upwards as the US stock market is spiking downwards. At the beginning of November we took steps to higher a Brazilian lawyer who would do some investigation into our visa status on the Brazilian side of things. We were hoping of course to see our wait time decrease significantly, say from a potential 8-12 months to five or six.
Earlier this week we had some email correspondence telling us that, yes our visa paperwork had gotten shuffled under the pile on a

desk somewhere and that due to our lawyers inquiries about it, they had not only made our visa a priority but had also already "authorized the visa for Jonathan M Johnson and family."
We were instructed to do some poking around to see what we could find out from our end and to the extent that we now know where to poke, nothing has changed that we can determine. What this all means: we don't yet know. What this does to our psyche: made for a few excited days.
As it stands now, we are still in the same place that we were before. Our lawyer will be making a trip to the Brazilian capitol next week and will be able to do some more checking for us at that time. We continue to pray and wait, something we have learned to embrace and rejoice in.

We have enjoyed several opportunities over the last several weeks to be

involved in discipleship in a number of different situations. The first two pictures on this post are of a "girls night" that Denielle hosted for a few young girls. We are also enjoying being a part of what God is doing in the lives of the some young people. We finished teaching through Genesis 3 yesterday and we are thankful for a continued interest and hunger from the kids, for a real bonding that has happened between them, and we are privileged to introduce spiritual truths that are never before heard to many of them.
Thanks for your continued prayers. Perhaps the next post will be able to announce an awarded visa!!
