ElliAnna Hope

It was10 degrees above zero, a true heatwave for northern Minnesota in January. Light snow flakes falling in downtown Duluth, just a couple blocks from Lake Superior. It was a wonderful, memorable day.

Our midwife was on vacation, we had known she would be traveling during that week but had prayed ElliAnna would wait until after the 21st to arrive. ElliAnna couldn't wait.
Our backup plan was also the teacher of our birth class. We had spent a weekend with her and felt comfortable that she would do a great job. The only problem was, she had another client who was also in labor that day. Our doula was getting ready to do the work of a midwife.
At about 12:30, the midwife showed up, the other lady's labor had stalled, she was free to focus on Denielle.
Five hours later, ElliAnna was born. Denielle did a wonderful job.
Birth team included the midwife, the doula, Mom Kathy, sister Dayna and Daddy.
6lbs. 5 ozs. 19 1/2 inches long, very strong vocal chords.

Monday was the third anniversary of that unforgettable day. What a girl God has given us! Here are a few shots of her B-day celebration and the people who helped her celebrate. It was a long way from Duluth.
