Some Birthday Fun

We enjoyed celebrating ElliAnna's first birthday yesterday, January 17. We were reminiscing about the events of the day one year ago and rejoicing at the blessings of God in giving us this responsibility to raise and shepherd this girl. We are humbled and grateful and find ourselves relying on the grace and strength of God more deeply.
While first birthdays are always a special event in Brazil they are a huge thing. We didn't put together a big party, we did have fun celebrating together and with our families in the states via skype. Here are a few snapshots.

She looks more like a Johnson in this picture, I don't know if it is because she is stuffing her face with cake or not. We put her in front of the web cam while she ate her little piece. She didn't really know what to think about the candle burning on the top.
