Arnie

Our brother Arnie is spending a couple of days with us this week and we are glad for the time we can share with him. He will be heading to Mozambique in Southeast Africa on Wednesday, April 18th. The build up to this has kind of been surreal, something we all know is going to happen but not really taking as seriously as we should have in the months leading up to it. It brings to mind many of the things that we have been able to enjoy over the years- shared life experiences that are a result of being close in age and often mistaken for one another (all though we look nothing alike!). Daily basketball games after school. Cheering on the Huskers, and the Chiefs, and the Avalanche, and even the Royals . . . listening to talk radio, discussing theological questions, debating political trends and movements, playing games, and family reunions. In the last few years it was special to be able to share in ministries whether it was VBS, camp, singing, or missions conferences. It's been great. . . thankfully while great bodies of water will soon separate us, our relationship goes deeper that geography.
Arnie is a great example to me in his drive to be obedient to Christ and serve Him in the most remote corner of the earth. When we think about our own missionary commitment and the things that might be in store for us down the road we are encouraged and challenged by what God is doing in Arnie's life and Arnie's response to it.
Thanks Bro for always being a big brother to me----
Keep up with him at his blog under "Recommendations" to the right.
